santo the cartoon

this is a trailer for the pilot "santo". santo was a masked wrestler from mexico. he was one of the most popular luchadors ever. he even had a run of films where he fought the good fight against classic american villains such as frankenstein and the mummy. carlo olviares paganoni is a writer/producer for cartoon network latin america. he created the show and with the help of santo's camp, not only came up with the pilot episode but also "santologia" which includes a clothing line. very trendy in the d.f.

to hot for daytime t.v.?

here is a promo douglas van sickle and i did for a combo weekend on tbs. the two movies were pretty woman and the wedding date. both movies are about prostitution. so leave it to doug to run with that idea. he is not only one of the best broadcast writer/producers i know but an all around hilarious dude. standards and practices with turner would not run the :30 until after 10p. guess they didn't need the complaints from parents having to explain what it means to not buy love but rent it. go figure. notice the scene we used from pretty woman where julia roberts is waving a handful of condoms around.

banned promo

this is a promo for cartoon network latin america's [adult swim]. the show is called "quads" and was written by a quadriplegic. it is the story of how he lost the use of his limbs after an accident and used the settlement money to go on a nonstop party with his friends. the promo only aired for 1 week in mexico before the government demanded that they not show it again. i guess full frontal cartoon nudity just doesn't fly in the 3rd world either, boo!

fun at work

it is a joy to work in television and when you get the chance to goof off you end up with some pretty random shit. clients that do their own scratch v.o.'s probably shouldn't sing into an open mic. the santa demo was done years ago in a linear room. the santa was billy joe my daddy who pasted on september 10, 2001. he was a for hire mall santa and quite good at it. he adored children and since most of his children will not be giving him grandchildren he found that being santa was a great way to enjoy them.
